MegaFlux is a Mexico City-based engineering company that designs and manufactures electric powertrains for commercial vehicles, including trucks and buses. It manufactures electric motors, battery packs, power electronics, and control systems that regulate electricity delivered to vehicle drivetrains. MegaFlux serves commercial fleet operators seeking alternatives to diesel propulsion, offering newly manufactured electric vehicles, conversions of existing trucks, and charging infrastructure. The company also offers fleet cost analysis, financing arrangements, driver and technician training, maintenance and battery management.

MegaFlux’s engineering work draws on the experience of Potencia Industrial, a Mexican manufacturer of electrical generators for wind and hydropower applications. The company began developing vehicles with its own electric propulsion technology in 2012 and supplied 120 motors and controllers for an electric-vehicle fleet in 2014. Later projects included electric taxi conversions in Mexico City, a three-ton truck and an 18-ton electric truck for Grupo Modelo. By 2023, MegaFlux had delivered electric commercial trucks and converted a bus for Mexico City’s public transport operator. More than 2.5 million kilometers have been logged by its electric vehicles, providing a measure of accumulated use across its deployments.

Heavy-Duty Truck Systems

MegaFlux manufactures electric powertrains for urban distribution trucks in the 12- to 18-ton class. The MF18T motor uses permanent magnets and has a stated peak efficiency of 97.2%, continuous output of 80 kilowatts, maximum output of 140 kW for 60 seconds and peak torque of 750 newton-meters. Air cooling eliminates the need for a liquid-cooling pump. The motor is designed for commercial routes with frequent stops and repeated acceleration, where torque delivery and energy consumption affect operating performance. Electronic controllers regulate the power delivered from the battery to the motor.

The heavy-duty configuration uses a 147-kilowatt-hour lithium iron phosphate battery pack rated at 640 volts. The listed range is 115 to 140 kilometers at 90% depth of discharge, and direct-current charging takes about 4.5 hours at 30 kW. The battery is rated for more than 3,000 charge cycles. Actual range depends on payload, road gradients, traffic, driving behavior and electricity use by auxiliary equipment. MegaFlux also offers electric trucks based on existing chassis platforms, including Isuzu models in medium- and heavy-duty categories. Retaining established chassis designs lets fleet operators evaluate electric propulsion without redesigning vehicle bodies or cargo arrangements. Purchase decisions still depend on route length, payload, charging access and battery costs.

Diesel Truck Conversions

MegaFlux’s EVERhaul service converts diesel-powered commercial vehicles to electric propulsion while retaining the original chassis when its structural integrity permits. The conversion kit includes an electric motor, battery pack, cabling and power electronics. Technicians remove the diesel engine, exhaust system, fuel tank and components no longer required, then install the electric drivetrain and onboard charging equipment. The wiring and controllers are configured for the vehicle before testing and commissioning. Conversion work can take place at MegaFlux’s premises or at a customer’s site, depending on project requirements.

Retrofitting allows businesses to retain trucks that already meet their cargo, body and equipment requirements. The option can suit delivery vehicles, refrigerated trucks, vans and urban distribution fleets, particularly when replacing specialized vehicles would require additional spending on equipment or bodywork. MegaFlux evaluates vehicle condition and total cost of ownership before conversion, including expected electricity consumption, maintenance expenses, battery capacity and route requirements. Services also include technical training and after-sales maintenance. Reusing an existing vehicle avoids manufacturing an entire replacement, although the emissions benefit depends on the chassis’s remaining service life, the electricity source used for charging and the materials required for conversion. Battery replacement and end-of-life disposal also affect total lifetime emissions.

Fleet Electrification Services

MegaFlux provides charging equipment and electrical planning for commercial fleets. Installations can include transformers, wiring, chargers, dispensers, and monitoring systems. Charging capacity must match the number of vehicles, battery sizes, daily routes and available charging hours. Delivery fleets that return to a depot after their shifts can charge overnight, reducing the need to charge every vehicle simultaneously. Electricity tariffs also affect operating costs: businesses must account for energy charges, demand charges and any expense associated with upgrading electrical service. MegaFlux offers energy-storage systems for sites seeking to manage peak grid demand or coordinate charging with onsite generation.

MegaFlux’s work in public transport includes the Taruk electric bus, developed with Mexican bus manufacturer DINA and body manufacturer Marcopolo. In March 2026, the partners introduced a 12-meter version designed for urban routes, with capacity for up to 90 passengers. It complements a 9.5-meter version designed to carry up to 60 passengers. The larger bus uses a Mexican-developed electric powertrain manufactured by MegaFlux, a chassis from DINA and a body produced by Marcopolo in Nuevo León. The partners have reported that the vehicles contain about 70% domestic content. In June 2026, the first five Taruk buses arrived in Chetumal, Quintana Roo, for operational testing before passenger service.

By September 2026, five Taruk buses had begun operating on the Sian Ka’an–Las Américas route in Chetumal. The 21-kilometer route connects residential neighborhoods with the city center and forms part of the state’s MOBI public transport system. The wider Chetumal project provides for 66 electric buses across 10 routes, alongside charging infrastructure. The deployment extends MegaFlux’s propulsion technology into scheduled public transport, where daily mileage, passenger loads, charging schedules and vehicle availability determine operating requirements. MegaFlux is also working with the International Finance Corporation on an Electric Fleet-as-a-Service platform that brings vehicles, charging infrastructure and after-sales services into one offering. For commercial buyers, the financial case depends on verified electricity and maintenance costs, route suitability, charging access and the purchase or conversion price. MegaFlux’s work on trucks, retrofits and buses gives fleet operators several options for evaluating electric propulsion, with actual savings determined by each fleet’s operating data.
