Japanese tech giant Fujitsu just announced plans to merge its public cloud businesses into one. This consolidation aims to improve its cloud services and make operations more transparent.

Fujitsu will merge its subsidiary FJCT, which runs the public cloud platforms NIFCLOUD and FJcloud-V right now. By bringing FJCT’s advanced cloud development together with its own enterprise service delivery skills, Fujitsu wants to quickly roll out the latest cloud technologies. These services include Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS), Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS), hosting services, email-as-a-service, and backend operations for mobile applications.

This merger aligns with Fujitsu's Business Model and Portfolio Strategy, which was announced in May 2023 as part of its medium-term management plan. The company's purpose revolves around building trust in society through innovation and making the world more sustainable.

Fujitsu announced the merger along with its latest annual financials. For the fiscal year ending March 2023, the company made 3.7 trillion yen (US$28 billion) in consolidated revenue. This maintains its spot as the top digital services provider in Japan by market share.

The cloud consolidation follows Fujitsu debuting new offerings to assist sustainable enterprise digital shifts. Last September, it became the first major partner in Japan for SAP's RISE with SAP.

As part of this, Fujitsu will develop a comprehensive cloud ERP solution to help enterprises transition sustainably. It’s the first SAP partner in Japan to provide business transformation, managed services, and infrastructure for RISE with SAP.

Fujitsu is consolidating its various public cloud businesses through a merger that will allow the company to improve its cloud services. By combining operations, Fujitsu can implement cutting-edge technologies, enhance stability and innovation, and align with its vision of enabling digital sustainability.

This positions the leading Japanese tech provider to better support enterprise cloud adoption through optimized, integrated platforms. The merger demonstrates Fujitsu’s commitment to advancing its public cloud offerings to match customer needs now and in the future.
