We Built Shipper to Bring Amazon-Level Logistics to Every Online Seller in Indonesia While Keeping It Affordable and Scalable: Phil Opamuratawongse, CEO of Shipper
Armed with a range of innovations and leading digital expertise, we are now closer to making our vision a reality.

Phil Opamuratawongse, Co-Founder & CEO, Shipper
Shipper is a logistics and fulfillment platform that helps e-commerce businesses across Indonesia simplify shipping and warehousing. By bringing multiple warehouse and courier services together on one platform, it allows sellers to manage inventory, fulfillment, and deliveries through a single dashboard. With over three hundred warehouses in 35 cities, Shipper makes logistics more accessible, giving businesses the freedom to focus on growth instead of daily operations.
Phil Opamuratawongse co-founded Shipper after years of consulting and venture investing in Silicon Valley. The idea came from a simple frustration. Indonesia had thousands of logistics providers, but none could reliably serve online sellers across the country. Phil partnered with Budi Handoko to build a solution that would bring reliable and affordable logistics to everyone selling online.
From Frustration to Frontier
Phil saw firsthand how efficient logistics enabled businesses in more mature markets. When he returned to Indonesia, he noticed the gap immediately. Sellers were losing money, customers, and time because they had no easy way to compare shipping rates, choose couriers, or arrange pickups. Together with Budi, he built a platform that pulled together rates from multiple couriers, simplified delivery options, and automated doorstep pickups.
That simple approach changed expectations. Shipper was accepted into Y Combinator, and its model quickly proved itself. As businesses started to see faster deliveries and reduced costs, word spread and adoption grew rapidly. What began as a frustration with everyday shipping became the foundation for one of Indonesia’s fastest-growing logistics platforms.
Empowering Sellers of Every Size
Shipper today serves a broad spectrum of customers. For small entrepreneurs, the value lies in easy access to couriers, free pickups, multiple delivery options, and transparent rates. For larger enterprises, Shipper provides warehouse management, fulfillment services, APIs, and end-to-end integration with logistics partners. By standardizing quality and simplifying operations, Shipper helps sellers compete effectively both within their city and across the country.
Building with Purpose and Culture
Phil believes culture is as important as strategy. From the beginning, he built a team that values openness and encourages ideas from all levels. Shipper trains employees not only in technology and operations but also in empathy and adaptability. He explains that innovation is not just about tools but about understanding the needs of sellers and creating solutions that truly work. This culture keeps the company grounded while giving it the agility to evolve.
Logistics as a Growth Engine
Behind the scenes, Shipper’s technology manages a complex chain of activities. Orders flow into fulfillment centers, inventory is updated in real time, routes are optimized, couriers are dispatched, and sellers receive constant updates through their dashboards. By managing this process seamlessly, Shipper allows businesses to spend their energy on customer relationships, product development, and marketing. Logistics becomes a driver of growth rather than an obstacle.
Adapting to Indonesia’s Scale
Indonesia’s geography is one of the toughest challenges for logistics companies. Deliveries often cross multiple islands, and service levels vary widely between regions. Phil explains that winning in this market meant building solutions for last mile delivery across diverse geographies, offering reliable inventory visibility, and ensuring costs remained manageable for small sellers. Shipper developed close relationships with both couriers and warehouses to give sellers the reach of a nationwide network without the burden of managing it themselves.
Leadership Rooted in Experience
Phil brings a mix of strategic insight and hands-on learning to his leadership style. His background at McKinsey and Floodgate gave him the perspective to evaluate new business models, but he knew that operating in Indonesia required more than frameworks. In Shipper’s early days, he spent time with sellers, tested pickup processes himself, and refined operations through direct feedback. This approach shaped how the company makes decisions today. Every new service is tested closely with customers before being scaled.
A Platform That Learns and Evolves
Shipper continues to gather insights from the millions of parcels moving through its system. The platform tracks delivery times, route efficiency, courier performance, and cost savings. Sellers receive data that helps them decide where to place stock and which shipping options work best. This constant feedback loop allows Shipper to keep improving while helping sellers make smarter business decisions.
Serving Sellers Across the Country
Today, Shipper supports more than twenty-five thousand online sellers and hundreds of enterprise clients. Each month, more than half a million parcels move through its system. Businesses across industries such as FMCG, food and beverage, automotive, and agriculture depend on Shipper to keep their supply chains running. For many of them, Shipper has become more than a logistics partner. It is a platform that enables them to participate fully in the digital economy.
