LOS ANGELES, Calif., Oct. 13, 2026 — Green SM launched its all-electric taxi service in Los Angeles, California, on October 13, marking its first entry into North America and its ninth global market. Founded in Vietnam in 2023, the ride-hailing company offers passengers transportation in VinFast electric vehicles, with bookings available through its app, by telephone hotline or by hailing a vehicle on the street.
The service caters to everyday trips, longer journeys and airport transfers. Green SM’s entry into Los Angeles marks its arrival in the U.S. transportation sector after establishing operations in eight other countries across Asia and Europe.
All-Electric Fleet Service
Green SM operates an all-electric fleet of VinFast VF 8 SUVs in Los Angeles. The vehicles provide passengers with spacious interiors and a modern ride. The service follows five commitments: Good Cars, Good Drivers, Good Price, Good Experience, and Good for the Environment, with an emphasis on vehicle quality, driver training, transparent fares, and customer service.
Drivers undergo selection and training before serving passengers. Green SM also offers fare promotions and customer service intended to make rides comfortable and dependable. The all-electric fleet produces no tailpipe emissions during operation, giving passengers an alternative to conventional gasoline-powered taxis.
Introductory Fare Discounts
New customers who sign up for Green SM receive 50% off fares, up to $12 per ride, on their first five trips. The introductory offer gives new users a lower-cost way to try the service in Los Angeles. Rides can be booked through the app, by calling the company’s hotline or by hailing a vehicle on the street.
Customers also receive a complimentary Green Pass membership, which provides 10 discount vouchers per month. Each voucher offers 30% off a fare, up to $10 per ride. The two promotions give eligible customers separate opportunities to reduce transportation costs when using Green SM.
Entry Into America
Hoang Thanh Hang, CEO of Green SM in the U.S., said: “The United States represents an important milestone in Green SM’s growth journey. We are not simply expanding into a new market. We aim to build trust with customers, drivers and local communities, one journey at a time. Our experience across international markets has shown us that the future of electric mobility is not defined by an all-electric fleet alone. It also depends on service quality, well-trained and reliable drivers, and genuine care in every customer interaction.”
Green SM plans to recruit and train drivers in Los Angeles and build its local workforce and operational capabilities. The hiring effort is intended to create employment opportunities while contributing to the use of electric vehicles for passenger transportation in Los Angeles and the surrounding region.

International Operations Growth
Green SM operates in Vietnam, Laos, Indonesia, the Philippines, India, Kazakhstan, Denmark, and the Netherlands. Across these markets, the company has completed approximately 850 million rides, covering nearly 6 billion kilometers. Green SM also reports that its operations have helped reduce more than 800,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions, equivalent to the amount of carbon absorbed by approximately 36 million trees.
The U.S. launch brings Green SM’s ride-hailing operations together with VinFast electric vehicles in Los Angeles. The company plans to invest in its fleet, technology, driver recruitment and service quality as it develops its U.S. operations. Its entry into California marks the next stage of its international business, with Los Angeles serving as its first North American market.
