Hyundai’s luxury vehicle division, Genesis, is focused on creating high-end, luxurious cars. The goal was to design innovative luxury cars to compete with established German brands like BMW, Mercedes-Benz, and Audi. As a newer luxury brand, Genesis offers unique designs and technology to set itself apart. But who specifically makes these up-and-coming luxury cars?
While Genesis vehicles are designed and manufactured in South Korea, the brand operates globally. The Hyundai Motor Group oversees Genesis operations from their headquarters in Seoul, South Korea. They develop new models and technology at their research centers across Korea, Germany, and California.
Genesis Motors, LLC. is the luxury vehicle manufacturing division of the Hyundai Motor Group. This means that Hyundai is the proud owner of Genesis Motors. The idea of creating luxury models under the Genesis brand was first discussed in 2004, and in 2016, the first standalone models, the Genesis G80 and G90, were introduced to dealerships in the United States.
Genesis launched in South Korea and the United States first but now sells vehicles in China, Russia, the Middle East, Canada, and Australia too. Europe and the rest of Asia are next on their list for introducing the brand. Genesis currently offers six luxury models including sedans, coupes and SUVs.
As a newcomer to the luxury market, Genesis focuses on stylish design and advanced technology. For example, they offer elegant exteriors with sleek lines and sophisticated interiors using premium materials. They also pack their vehicles with the latest tech features like advanced driver aids, connectivity services, and infotainment controls.
