In Conversation with Roland Folz, CEO of CloudPay

What inspired you to take on the role of CEO at CloudPay?

I was drawn to CloudPay because of the opportunity to reshape how businesses handle payroll on a global scale. Payroll is more than just a function—it directly affects employees’ financial well-being. Leading a company that simplifies and enhances payroll processes felt like the perfect challenge for me.

How do you see CloudPay addressing the biggest payroll challenges for multinational companies?

Managing payroll across different countries comes with a long list of obstacles, from compliance requirements to varying tax regulations. Our platform removes those barriers by providing a centralized system that ensures payroll accuracy, timeliness, and compliance in every region we serve. Businesses no longer need to worry about managing multiple systems or vendors, which means payroll becomes more efficient and reliable.

What role does technology play in CloudPay’s approach?

Technology is at the core of everything we do. Automation reduces errors, speeds up payroll cycles, and allows businesses to manage payroll operations with greater confidence. Real-time analytics give companies visibility into payroll trends, helping them make informed decisions. We also focus on integrating secure payment solutions to ensure employees receive their salaries without delays or issues.

Data security is a major concern for payroll. How does CloudPay ensure data protection?

Payroll data is highly sensitive, so security is always a top priority. We implement strict protocols, including encryption and access controls, to protect data at every stage. Compliance with global security standards ensures that businesses and employees can trust that payroll information is handled safely.

What do you enjoy most about leading CloudPay?

I enjoy seeing the direct impact of our work on businesses and their employees. When payroll runs smoothly, employees feel secure, and businesses operate more effectively. Knowing that we play a key role in making that happen is incredibly rewarding.

How do you approach leadership, and what motivates you?

I believe leadership is about empowering teams to do their best work. I encourage collaboration, innovation, and a focus on continuous improvement. What motivates me is seeing the progress we make and the value we bring to our customers. Every day presents new challenges, but solving them is what keeps me engaged and excited about the future of payroll technology.

If you could give one piece of advice to companies struggling with payroll challenges, what would it be?

Invest in a payroll solution that not only meets today’s needs but also scales with future growth. Payroll is too important to be left to outdated systems or manual processes. The right technology makes all the difference, and businesses that prioritize efficiency and compliance will always be better positioned for success.

What trends are shaping the future of payroll, and how is CloudPay adapting?

More companies are moving toward digital payroll solutions that integrate automation, real-time data, and compliance management. CloudPay is at the forefront of this shift, continuously enhancing our platform to meet evolving business needs. We are also seeing greater demand for flexible payment options, such as on-demand pay, which allows employees to access their wages when needed. These advancements make payroll more responsive to modern workforce expectations.
