Erika Jordan (DMS, EMT, CHT, CHS) is the proud owner of Hyperbaric Healing Treatment Center. She’s a qualified Diagnostic Medical Sonographer, an Emergency Medical Technician, and also a Certified Hyperbaric Technologist with the National Board of Diving and Hyperbaric Medical Technology.

As a Hyperbaric Safety Director, Erika also has additional training in Transcutaneous Oxygen Monitoring and Inspection, Maintenance, and Documentation of Hyperbaric Chamber Acrylics.

Erika started her career as a Hyperbaric Chamber Operator at a private hyperbaric oxygen facility in Delray Beach, FL. Spurred on by her passion for helping patients heal, she quickly rose to become the Facility Manager and Safety Director there. Erika then moved closer to her hometown near Orlando to be with her family. While in Central Florida, she ran multiple hospital-affiliated facilities as their Senior Hyperbaric Safety Specialist.

From working in a hospital setting, Erika soon realized the disadvantages that those centers presented. At those facilities, she was limited to only treating 14 insurance-approved indications—meaning that many patients had to be turned away from receiving HBOT treatment for not falling within their narrow treatment guidelines. 

With the experience she’d gained from working in a private clinic, Erika turned her frustration at the lack of treatment opportunities into the goal of offering HBOT to all patients in a cost-effective manner.

Erika had always dreamed of opening her hyperbaric facility. With this goal in mind, she opened Hyperbaric Healing Treatment Center in 2017 to offer hyperbaric oxygen therapy for any patient who needs treatment.

Since the beginning, the Hyperbaric Healing Treatment Center has seen remarkable growth, evolving from a team of two to eight full-time employees, establishing two locations, and featuring six state-of-the-art hyperbaric chambers.

She believes that healing patients is her calling, and she’s committed to upholding the highest safety standards in hyperbaric medicine and inspiring her team each day to provide the best possible care to their patients. Erika has also championed important partnerships with several organizations—including multiple nonprofits that help veterans—to make treatment accessible to all.

SME Business Review contacted Erika Jordan for an interview, and here’s what she had to say.

Could you elaborate on how Hyperbaric Healing Treatment Center (HHTC) was founded and discuss the initial vision behind its establishment?

After working in the Hyperbaric field for 10 years at multiple levels, from private facilities to the hospital sector, I decided to start the first privately owned and operated hyperbaric facility in the Dr. Phillips area of Orlando, Florida. My intention was to offer a more affordable treatment option with comparable chambers and safety standards you find in the hospital sector while treating patients of all ages and conditions. I was also focused on educating the community to understand why waiting until something is wrong to seek treatment and propose taking a prophylactic approach to health while you're younger so you feel healthier longer in life.

What makes HHTC the premier private hyperbaric oxygen therapy provider, and how does it prioritize high-quality, affordable treatment options for its patients?

I compare our chambers to the Lamborghini of hyperbaric chambers. They are the nicest, safest, and most operator-efficient. They also have many safety guidelines one has to adhere to ensure patient safety.

What is hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) and what benefits does this treatment offer? 

I believe Hyperbaric oxygen therapy is the best drug we can all benefit from. Oxygen is vital for life! HBOT uses medical-grade oxygen and pressurizes the patient to increase the percentage of oxygen within the body. The combination of pure oxygen and pressure stimulates circulation and healing in all areas of the body. 

The best part of HBOT is that the chamber doesn’t know why you're here. So, one comes in for one condition, and the whole body receives benefits. This is such a rewarding career to be a part of, as we are getting our patients better faster, naturally, one breath at a time.

Tell us about the HHTC team. How do they enhance the HBOT experience and ensure improved patient outcomes?

My team is composed of elite, dedicated medical professionals who are highly trained to provide the best care for our patients. In addition to providing daily safe and effective treatments, they strive to go above and beyond for each and every patient who chooses to have treatments at our centers.

We are always promoting our team's continuing education. We conduct safety training drills and provide ongoing training.

Could you share a recent success story where HHTC's therapies significantly improved a client’s quality of life?

I have a 40-year-old stroke survivor currently in treatment with us. She is absolutely the sweetest patient. Some of her main concerns starting treatment were that she was wheelchair bound, slurred speech, and had vision changes since her stroke. 

After her first series of treatments, she can now move around her home with a walker and transfer from her wheelchair much better; her speech has improved significantly, she is able to make full sentences, and a fantastic extra bonus is that her vision has improved. She used to have a very bouncy vision in her left eye. After a series of treatments, she now states her vision is corrected. We are thankful, honored, and blessed to be a part of her healing team.

Will HHTC be launching any new services that we should be aware of?

We specialize in Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy and provide custom protocols for many medical conditions. Custom-prescribed oxygen treatment is currently our only service. We are in the planning stages of launching our third location. We are excited to begin this process and for the growth of our field.

Do you have any final thoughts or comments before we conclude?

I have been in the Hyperbaric field for 17 years and have seen so many changes. Over the past five years, I have seen the most growth within our industry. From acceptance from medical providers to the wealth of info readily available to patients. The word of this natural healing is spreading. I am so excited to see where we will be in the next five years.
