In Conversation with Fatima Rizwan, Founder & CEO of Metaschool

What inspired you to create Metaschool?

I noticed a significant gap in resources for developers transitioning from Web2 to Web3. The decentralized internet offers immense opportunities, and I wanted to create a platform that makes it easier for developers to acquire the necessary skills to thrive in this new environment.

How has Metaschool grown since its inception?

Since launching in February 2022, we have seen over 120,000 developers join our platform. They have launched more than 40,000 projects on the mainnet and completed millions of hours of learning. It's been incredible to witness such enthusiasm and commitment from our community.

What challenges have you faced in building Metaschool?

One of the main challenges has been keeping up with the rapid evolution of Web3 technologies. Ensuring our content remains current and relevant requires continuous effort. Additionally, catering to a global audience means we must consider diverse learning needs and backgrounds.

How do you ensure the quality of courses on Metaschool?

We collaborate with industry experts to design our courses, focusing on practical, hands-on learning. Our content undergoes rigorous review processes, and we actively seek feedback from our community to make continuous improvements.

What role does community play in Metaschool?

Community is at the heart of Metaschool. We provide forums, host meetups, and organize hackathons to encourage collaboration and knowledge sharing. Building a supportive network helps developers learn from each other and grow together.

How do you see the future of Web3 education?

Web3 is still in its early stages, and education will be crucial in driving its adoption. I envision more interactive and immersive learning experiences, possibly leveraging technologies like virtual reality to simulate real-world applications.

What advice would you give to developers interested in Web3?

Start by building a solid understanding of blockchain fundamentals. Engage with communities, participate in projects, and don't be afraid to experiment. The Web3 space values innovation and initiative.

How does Metaschool support developers in finding opportunities?

Beyond education, we aim to connect developers with job opportunities in the Web3 space. We partner with organizations looking for talent and facilitate introductions, helping our community members advance their careers.

What motivates you personally in this journey?

I am driven by the potential of decentralization to democratize access to technology and opportunity. Seeing developers from diverse backgrounds come together to build innovative solutions keeps me motivated every day.

How do you balance innovation with maintaining a solid educational foundation?

While we embrace innovation, we ensure that our educational content is grounded in fundamental principles. This balance allows developers to build a strong base while staying adaptable to new advancements.

What are your thoughts on the role of women in tech and Web3?

Diversity brings strength to any industry. I encourage more women to explore opportunities in tech and Web3. At Metaschool, we strive to create an inclusive environment that supports and empowers women developers.
