SAN FRANCISCO, June 6, 2025Anysphere, the artificial intelligence startup behind the coding assistant Cursor, has raised $900 million in a funding round that values the three-year-old company at $9.9 billion, Bloomberg reported Friday.

The investment was led by returning backer Thrive Capital, with additional participation from Andreessen Horowitz, Accel, and DST Global. The raise marks Anysphere’s third round in under a year, following a $100 million funding last year at a pre-money valuation of $2.5 billion.

Cursor has quickly become a leading product in the growing category of AI coding assistants, also known as "vibe coders." These tools have gained popularity among developers for accelerating programming tasks and boosting productivity.

Anysphere’s annualized revenue has been doubling roughly every two months, according to a person familiar with the company’s finances. Sources told Bloomberg the company has now crossed $500 million in ARR, up from $300 million in April.

The startup offers tiered pricing, beginning with a two-week free trial and converting users into paid plans. Its $20 Pro tier targets individual developers, while a $40 business plan serves small teams. Until recently, most of the company’s income came from individual subscriptions, but it has now introduced enterprise licenses at higher price points.

Earlier this year, Anysphere attracted acquisition interest from multiple firms, including OpenAI. The company declined those offers, choosing to remain independent. OpenAI later acquired another AI assistant, Windsurf, in a $3 billion deal.

Anysphere is headquartered in San Francisco and is seen by investors as a core player in the next phase of developer-focused AI tools.

Cursor is no longer just a developer tool — it’s becoming a foundational product in enterprise software.
