SAN FRANCISCO, Calif., Oct. 25, 2025 — FarmTech company Orchard Robotics is working to secure America’s food supply by building an AI farmer that automates farms. By working closely with growers, the company aims to make farming profitable, efficient, and sustainable again.
FruitScope Vision is Orchard’s industry-leading AI-powered camera system. It can be mounted on any tractor or farm vehicle and captures precise data for every crop on every tree, vine, or plant throughout the season. Built with best-in-class, farm-tough hardware and advanced artificial intelligence, the system delivers reliable results at scale, supporting operations from 100 acres to more than 10,000 acres.
FruitScope Vault serves as a system of record for a farm’s most valuable data. Designed from the ground up, it streamlines critical information and integrates it into decision-making across the farm. The platform helps track billions of fruit across tens of millions of trees, vines, or plants over multiple seasons.
FruitScope OS is Orchard’s modern farm management software suite, where data meets decision-making. The platform allows farmers to view and act on all their farm data through a single interface. According to the company, data is only valuable if it can be used, and automation is only possible when farmers fully understand what is happening in the field. Every decision, from pruning and spraying to irrigation, hiring, harvesting, marketing, selling, and distribution, depends on knowing what is growing in the field.
Canary is Orchard’s core AI engine that powers decision-making across the entire farm. Built on some of the largest agricultural datasets in the world, Canary learns from millions of trees and their outcomes to automate and optimize farm decisions, helping growers achieve higher profitability and efficiency while maintaining sustainability.
Founded in 2022 by Thiel Fellow Charlie Wu, Orchard Robotics is addressing one of modern agriculture’s biggest challenges, the lack of precise, field-level data.
How Orchard Supports Progressive Farmers
Fully Automated Farms: Orchard envisions a future where farms operate very differently from today. In this future, AI continuously gathers data on every plant and autonomously makes decisions that lead to better crop outcomes. The company notes that automation is not immediate and requires first identifying inefficiencies and then applying data in practical ways. Orchard is laying the groundwork of systems, data, and software to make this future possible.
Full Farm Data: FruitScope Vision provides thorough, precise, and accurate data collection throughout the growing season. Farmers can understand every tree, vine, or plant across large operations spanning multiple blocks, ranches, and seasons. Orchard emphasizes that modern software is essential to bridge the gap between field data and farm management, allowing growers to integrate insights directly into existing workflows.
AI-Powered Decision-Making: Orchard’s AI analyzes millions of trees simultaneously to uncover the most efficient and profitable management strategies. Data forms the foundation of every farming decision, and usable data is essential for automation. FruitScope OS gives growers a complete view of their operations and integrates seamlessly with existing farm processes to deliver a unified management experience.
Funding to Strengthen America’s Food Supply
In September, Orchard Robotics announced an oversubscribed 22-million-dollar Series A funding round. The round was led by Quiet Capital and Shine Capital, with continued participation from General Catalyst, Contrary, Mythos, Valyrian, Ravelin, and other investors, including Formula One World Champion Nico Rosberg and Yext and Roam founder Howard Lerman. The funding brings the company’s total capital raised to more than 25 million dollars.
Today, even the largest farms often rely on manual sampling that covers less than 0.01 percent of their crops to make high-value decisions related to labor, inputs, management, sales, and supply chains. This data gap results in inefficiencies and economic losses at a time when labor and input costs are rising and farm efficiency has stalled.
Charlie Wu notes that agriculture has not fundamentally evolved in the past two decades despite sharp cost increases. He describes farming as a data problem, where the lack of precise and actionable information limits progress. Orchard Robotics, he says, exists to help farmers operate more profitably and efficiently, and the new funding supports that mission.
